Our trees
It all began when we planted the first of over 1,000 trees in 2019. Fast forward to 2025 and our trees have had six years of tender loving care.

From regular watering to frequent pruning, a lot of work goes in to shaping a traditional Christmas tree. No, they don’t all grow to the traditional Christmas tree shape without a little persuasion - each tree is different and grows at its own rate and in its own direction!

Coal Valley Christmas Trees will open for Christmas tree sales on Saturday 29 November 2025. There will be a limited number of Christmas trees for sale each year, ensuring that we have plenty left for many Christmases to come.
At Coal Valley Christmas Trees we use a ticketed system to sell our trees and bookings are essential. This is the only way to buy our Christmas trees.
One ticket = one tree.

This allows us to limit the number of tree-hunters on our farm at any one time to ensure that you to have a fun filled experience with no long lines to access the Christmas trees, especially if the weather is hot, rainy, windy, all of which can be experienced in Tasmania in one day!

Find your perfect Christmas tree
Short, or tall. Perfectly shaped, or a bit quirky. Hunting for just the right Christmas tree is fun for all ages.

Our Christmas trees range in size from 1m to 3.3m. Pricing starts at just $55 for a 1.2m tree (4 foot) and increases with the height of the tree. Please click here for a detailed pricing breakdown.
Tree hunting
When you arrive at Coal Valley Christmas Trees, please come to the Welcome Desk where we will check you in.

Grab a measuring stick and off you go, have fun!

There are two fenced areas that you can choose a tree from. Once you have chosen your Christmas tree, find a friendly tree cutter (there is one in each area) wearing a hat with a red band around the brim, a red apron and holding a chainsaw. Show them the tree you have chosen and they will cut the tree down for you.
Carry your tree back to the Welcome Desk / sales area to complete you purchase. If you need help carrying your tree our staff will happily assist you.

We hope this is the start of your yearly Christmas tradition!
Christmas Tree Care
-
Your tree needs to be put in water as soon as possible.
-
We suggest cutting about 1-2cm off the base of your tree when you get home as the sap may have sealed the tree and it will not be able to absorb water.
-
If you are sensitive to pollens hose off you tree before bringing inside. Radiata pines are pollinated in August so any pollen present would be from surrounding grasses in the area.
4. Place you tree in a Christmas tree stand or in a bucket and use rocks to keep it stable, not sand or dirt as the tree will not be able to absorb enough water.
5. Place you tree out of direct sunlight and away from air conditioners.
6. CHECK DAILY that your tree has enough water. If you let it go dry the trunk may seal over and it will be unable to absorb water.

Tree-cycling
Once all the presents have been opened, multiple courses have been consumed and it’s time to pack away the decorations, what do you do with your Christmas tree?
Coal Valley Christmas Trees will be running a free annual program to recycle used Christmas trees into mulch.
Simply bring your used Christmas tree back to our farm during January and pop it over the gate. We will mulch it and use the mulch around the Christmas trees still growing on the farm.
Please remember to remove all decorations before returning your tree.
